AGL Training Ltd are looking to recruit an Apprentice on behalf of our well-established client based in Wolverhampton.
Our client are a welding, fabrications and laser cutting company working with customers from a number of sectors. They are looking for a workshop apprentice to assist existing staff members with all steps of the manufacturing process. They are a friendly team who are looking for an individual who wants to work hard and learn.
The position is for an Apprenticeship, the position is initially 12-15 months with the possibility of a full-time role at the end of the programme.
During this time, you will work towards the following qualifications:
• Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship Standards
• EAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills)
• Highfield Level 1/2 Functional Skills in English and Maths
General Duties
You will receive training to enable you to carry out the following duties:
• Read and understand customer orders / job sheets.
• Lifting and carrying different types, shapes and sizes of steel.
• Prepare equipment and machinery for the manufacturing process.
• Use a variety of machines to bend, press and punch holes into steel.
• Apply finishing techniques to take off sharp edges, clean and shine.
• Quality-check the finished product.
• Wrap and pack finished items, if necessary.
• Apply labels to finished orders.
• Receive incoming goods and store in designated locations.
• General housekeeping.
• Driver’s mate, go with driver to deliver items to a powder coater.
• Health and Safety.
Skills and Requirements
The ideal candidate will be:
• GCSE Grade 3 or above in English and Maths (Grade D).
• A team player who uses initiative, for example someone who will find something to do to help even when their job role has gone quiet.
• Is comfortable lifting and carrying steel.
• Ambitious and willing to learn.
• Confident.
• Polite and friendly.
Working Hours
Monday – Thursday: 7.50am – 4.20pm, Friday: 6.50am – 3.20pm
(25minute paid morning break and 30minute unpaid lunch break)
Total hours paid: 40hours
Hourly Rate: £7.55 (possible increased based on performance)
